# Accounts and Licenses

## Users

In Hamina Wireless products, a user is defined as an individual person. Each user needs to have their own subscription. Subscriptions for teams can be provided through a volume license key.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Shared accounts, group accounts, and login sharing are not permitted per our Terms of Service. Each user must create a unique, named account.

For details, check out our [Terms of Service](https://www.hamina.com/terms).
{% endhint %}

## Signing In

There are two instances of Hamina Network Planner:

* 🇪🇺 EU Instance: <https://eu.hamina.com/>
* 🇺🇸 US Instance: <https://us.hamina.com/>

While user accounts, passwords, and multi-factor authentication settings are shared between instances, projects, subscription status, and project sharing are not shared between instances.

### Multi-Factor Authentication

Signing into Hamina Network Planner is a two-step process:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### First Authentication Factor

For the first authentication factor, you can always sign in with either:

* An **email address** and **password**
* An **email address**, and **code sent to your email address**
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Second Authentication Factor

For the second authentication factor, you can choose to sign in with either:

* A **code** sent via text message to a **mobile phone**
* A **code** generated with an **authenticator app**

Hamina supports most TOTP (Time-Based One-Time Password) authentication apps such as Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, Duo, Authy, and 1Password. *<mark style="color:$warning;background-color:$warning;">Note: We haven't tested all TOTP authenticator apps, but they should work.</mark>*
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Resetting Your Password

On the login screen, click the **Forgot password?** link to initiate a password reset.

## Volume License Keys

If you have a team of two or more users, you can purchase multiple licenses from a single account. This is often useful for simplifying billing.

### Retrieving the License Key

If you purchase multiple licenses, you'll need to retrieve the license key from Hamina, and share it with anyone that you'd like to add to your Hamina organization.

1. Click on the **Account** menu in the upper right, then click **Subscriptions**.\

### Release a License

When a user activates a license, the license is tied to that user for 90 days. After 90 days, the subscription holder (the person who shared the license key) has the ability to **Release** the user's license, freeing up the seat for another user to activate.

This is useful for when someone leaves your organization, if someone's role changes, or if you just want to keep a small pool of licenses and move them around between users.

To release a license:

1. Click on the **Account** menu in the upper right, then click **Subscriptions**.
2. The **Subscriptions page** will list all active subscriptions. In the **Subscriptions table**, find the relevant subscription and click the **>** button.
3. The **Manage subscription** page will list all available seats, including which user has activated each seat, and when they last used Hamina. Next to the seat that you would like to release, click the **elipsis (...) menu**, and click **Release**.\
   \
   \&#xNAN;*Note: The user must have have activated the seat at least 90 days ago to be eligible for release.*
